Five signs that we can be self-gaslighting, not only get from other people, but we can be a gaslighter for ourselves. Self-gaslighting it’s bad enough that we’re gaslighted by other people. Self-gaslighting becomes a sort of internalized narrative and self-talk about ourself, example “i’m dumb, i’m foolish, i’m disorganized, i’m a mess” .Many people who believe they have imposter syndrome will self-gaslight. 1. Always assume that got it wrong whether it’s a scheduling mistake where something was put or anything that may affect someone else. 2. Apologies all the time always, apologizing when didn’t do anything wrong. 3. Self-talk where almost reflexively refer to ourselves as stupid. 4. Undercutting own abilities on a regular basis things like “I’m really disorganized”. 5. Minimize achievements this sometimes may feel like humility as though a person is trying to not brag.

Video Title: What gaslighting IS vs what it is NOT

Date: 2 December 2022

  1. What is being discussed in the video? Explain your answer.
Talk about some key concepts related to narcissism and talk about what they’re not. What gaslighting is : – Manipulation, like “doubt yourself, only believe me” when they do that and the gaslighted gets what they want. – Emotional abuse, because they’re playing with a person’s mind and with a person’s reality. – Mentally if are feeling impaired and mentally unwell, for example, “maybe I need therapy, I’m developing memory problems, I need to stop being so sensitive”. – It’s a tool with which to control, when mistrust yourself and believe that they’re right. – Minimizing and pathologizing of your emotion. – Often results in them doubting your commitment at a time when you know you’re deeply committed to the relationship. – It’s acting as judge and jury on your emotions. – May be a denial of a real societal phenomenon or holding or maintaining a dehumanizing belief system like denying racism, denying classism, and other biases and then calling you brainwashed What gaslighting is not: – It is not the same thing as narcissism tempting as it is to think of gaslighting and narcissism as synonymous gaslighting is a tool of every narcissist but they’re not the same thing, there are some gaslighters out there who are not narcissistic however all narcissists do gaslight. – Is not just lying if you say to someone “hey, did u end up going to happy hour with that guy, you work with” and then you show them a social and they say, “no I didn’t go there”. – Gaslighting is not just sharing an opinion, different opinions are not gaslighting, denying your reality. – Is not anger, if a person gets angry at you for something, it is not a reaction you like, it may not even be the reaction you think. – Obsessiveness may be poor boundaries, it may be intrusiveness, may even straight-up stalking but it’s not gaslighting.

Video Title: How to Spot the Hidden Signs Someone Is Gaslighting

Date: 9 December 2022

  1. What is being discussed in the video? Explain your answer.
The video is discussed about: What does gaslighting behavior look like? Why do narcissists gaslight / what is the goal of a narcissist when they gaslight? What are the 3 signs someone is gaslighting? What is deflection? What impact does this type of emotional manipulation have on someone’s mental health? What should someone do if they are experiencing this type of narcissistic abuse? What SHOULDN’T someone do when they are experiencing gaslighting? Why don’t narcissists like getting caught? What is the #1 surefire sign that you are being gaslighted? Here’s how to spot the hidden signs someone is gaslighting: The first one is when somebody says to you, you’re too sensitive or you have no right to feel that way. You have no right to feel that way, as though you are a judge and jury and their emotional state. So, what that does is it makes a person literally doubt their feeling and a feeling is spontaneous. Experience. This is the emotional, when we do this emotionally, it is termed gaslighting. When people are told that you’re too sensitive, you have no right to feel this way, the best thing to do is to not engage at that point, cause you can’t win. No matter what you say, this person, if anything, by those statements has shown that they’re willing to emotionally manipulate and abuse you. There’s nowhere to go in that conversation. So if they say that, maybe if anything they say no, but they;re gonna keep pushing at you, so you can just let it go and know the conversation ends there instead of you getting into an ongoing conflict with them. The second is deflection. They now are talking about something that happened years ago or something that’s unrelated, but when they deflect, they deflect to a situation that makes you look bad. The third of gaslighting is that never happened. Narcissists just don’t like getting caught in the inconsistencies of their gaslighting. They will either get angry or they’ll deflect again.
  2. What is the speaker’s main purpose? Explain your answer.
The speaker’s main purpose is to share how to spot the hidden signs someone is gaslighting, to inform the audience how to differentiate if people are gaslighting or not, and inform how to stop suffering the silence.
  3. How trustworthy is this video? Who is the speaker? What is the source? Do you think the source and the speaker are trustworthy?
I think the video is trustworthy because, in this video, Dr. Ramani Durvasula and MedCircle host Kyle Kittleson discuss it. The source: Get Dr. Ramani’s book, “Don’t You Know Who I Am? How to Stay Sane in An Era of Narcissism, Entitlement, & Incivility.
  4. What the speaker’s attitude or tone towards the subject? Does he/she seem to agree or disagree with it? Explain your answer.
The speaker disagreed with the sign of gaslighting , she often emphasized the words that made him strongly disagree with the act of gaslighting, and told the audience to control the person who was gaslighted (probably the audience itself) in the conversation verbally and non-verbally.
  5. Does the speaker put forward valid or strong arguments? How does he/she support the key points? Explain your answer.
Yes, she does. In video the speaker put forward valid and strong arguments. Then, it is entirely informational, offering readers, viewers, subscribers, followers, and members educational resources, anecdotes, case studies, and stories.
