Video Title: How I Learned To Love Myself

Date: 4 November 2021

  1. What is being discussed in the video? Explain your answer.
The video discusses learning how to love ourselves by taking an example from a well-known public figure, Keanu Reeves. The speaker told us to think about someone that we really like. It can be a celebrity, a family member, or even a fictional character. And all we have to do next is take the good traits from that person and add those traits to our character, and by doing this, we would start loving ourselves more. This is because when we start incorporating the favorite traits of people that we admire or when we take the reasons why we admire them so much and add them to ourselves, we will start loving or accepting ourselves more. He said that the reason why we couldn’t love ourselves is that we have traits that we don’t like. All we need to do is fix this ratio. We must decrease the number of traits that we dislike, and increase the number of traits that we like. The speaker suggests that next time when we see a person that we admire, we need to ask ourselves this: what is it about him/her that I like so much? And how can I add that trait to my own life so that I can learn to love myself more?
  2. What is the speaker’s main purpose? Explain your answer.

Video Title: 8 Things You Need to Know about Self-Love

Date: 18 November 2021

  1. What is being discussed in the video? Explain your answer.
This video is talking about eight things we need to know about self-love. 1. Self-love is not a linear process. It means that the process of loving yourself will have ups and downs. On this journey, you’ll probably have days where you feel great and positive, but also there will be days where you feel sad, or anxious. The speaker said that part of loving yourself is feeling and expressing these emotions without criticizing yourself. And I agree with this because while learning to love ourselves I think it doesn’t always have to be positive, because after all we all are only human and sometimes we can’t control our feelings or emotions, so it is OK to have ups and downs. 2. We are conditioned by society to believe that self-love is selfish. The speaker said it is normal and understandable when we say no to someone and then we feel self-absorbed because society has led us to believe that prioritizing our own needs is selfish. But this is not true, because taking care of our own needs is one of the most important things, and it’s never selfish. 3. Self-love is not a rapid process. 4. Self-love opens more doors for us to give and receive love. 5. Self-love can be difficult. It does not only take time, but it’s also very complex. There is a lot of processes that we have to do, such as understanding our feelings, and what do ourselves truly want. 6. Self-love means giving permission to accept our own compassion. It let us understand and show patience to our own personality flaws and become tolerant of our own shortcomings. 7. Self-love means following the yearnings of our own heart, even if that’s not what others want. The speaker said that part of loving yourself is giving yourself the right to follow your own dreams and your own heart no matter what others say. 8. Self-love is not always fun. Because sometimes, in order to love yourself you have to prioritize what is best for you and make sacrifices.
